How to Take Care of Your New Tattoo!

Instructions:

1.) For at LEAST 2 weeks, minimize exposure to the sun, and discourage swimming in fresh, salt, or chlorinated water; showers instead of tub baths.

2.) Properly cleanse the tattooed area with dial soap or any antibacterial soap until healed; approximately 7-14 days, 2-3 times a day. DO NOT put alcohol or Neosporin on the tattoo.

3.) Apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment or cream (BACITRACIN) for the first 2-3 days. Afterwards use a mild, non-scented lotion whenever the tattoo seems dry or scaly. DO NOT SCRATCH OR PICK AT YOUR TATTOO.

4.) If the tattoo is covered with a sterile bandage or other sterile dressing(s) after completion, leave the bandage on for a MAXIMUM of 2 hours, then remove. DO NOT re-cover the tattoo under any circumstances.

5.) The client should consult a health care practitioner at the first sign of infection or an allergic reaction, and report any diagnosed infection, allergic reaction, or adverse reaction resulting from the tattoo to the artist and to the Texas Department of Health, Drugs and Medical Devices Division, at 1-888-839-6676.
